Match is considered one of the insect growth regulator products and one of the most important. It acts as a stomach poison, meaning that larvae must feed on the treated plant for the control process to occur. It possesses penetrative properties, spreading within the tissues of the treated leaf to reach the lower surface, thus controlling larvae that feed on the underside of the leaf. It also has rain-fastness properties, resisting wash-off by rainwater 30 minutes after application.
